Compact Fluorescent Lamps
Compact Fluorescent Grow Lights CFLs) were first introduced around 1980 as an energy-efficient
alternative to "energy wasting" incandescent
light bulbs. CFLs provide more concentrated light than linear
fluorescent tubes and are about one quarter the size of conventional
fluorescents.
This unit, from Hydrofarm, is simple to use. The compact
fluorescent bulbs you see on this page already have a built-in
ballast so there is no need for an unsightly external ballast.
An 8 foot power cord plugs into any standard 120V household
outlet and the fixture incorporates a convenient on/off switch
at the back of the reflector.
These lamps are ideal for starting seeds, propagation, house
plants, African violets, orchids, carnivorous plants, cactus
and more!
